Diversity Resources
The Society of Pediatric Psychology (SPP) is committed to promoting diversity in pediatric psychology research and clinical care, to increasing the number of SPP members from diverse backgrounds, and to providing services and resources for SPP members who are members of underrepresented groups. Based on this commitment, the SPP Executive Committee established a standing Diversity Committee in 2006, with the goal of promoting diversity issues and research within the Division. More recently, the SPP membership passed a by-law amendment to establish a Member at Large position for Diversity issues. Activities of the Diversity Committee, includr the Diversity Research Grant and Poster Awards. Links for helpful diversity resources are provided below.

SPP Diversity Research Grant
To highlight the importance of diversity in pediatric psychology research and clinical care, the SPP has established a $1000 research grant available to members of the Society. Funds are available to conduct pediatric psychology research that features diversity-related variables, such as race/ethnicity, gender, culture, sexual orientation, language differences, socioeconomic status, and/or religiosity. Other aspects of diversity may be considered.
Applicants may be students, fellows, or early career faculty (i.e. within 3 years of appointment). Funds are not provided for convention and meeting travel, indirect costs of the institution, stipends of principal investigators, or costs associated with manuscript preparation.

SPP Mentorship Program
As part of the SPP’s commitment to foster students’ professional development, the SPP Mentorship Program was established to link students and early career psychologists with more seasoned professionals. Since the inception of the project, 235 Division members have indicated an interest in the Mentorship Program, with 112 matches made since July 2005.
